Eligibility

  • Submit a rough edit of the film with the application.

How to Apply

To be considered for the Picture Shop Feature Film Grant, qualifying filmmakers must apply on the Film Independent website. The application process includes the following requirements:

  • $45 application fee
  • Cover letter explaining your interest in the award and why a Picture Shop color finishing package is suited to your production needs and artistic vision
  • Artistic statement
  • Cinematographer’s statement
  • Plan for the project’s post-production timeline, financing, and festival strategy
  • Project status and history, including any awards received and artist development programs participated in
  • Top-sheet of the budget
  • Assembly edit of the full film
  • Copy of the script/transcript
  • Logline and synopsis
  • Bios of key cast and crew

Filmmakers must sign an agreement with Picture Shop and Film Independent if selected, and use Picture Shop’s color correction and digital intermediate services. They must also allow promotional use of assets and testimonials.

Grant Package Details

The grant package includes:

  • Ingesting original camera masters used in the locked project
  • 1 Unsupervised Online Conform
  • I/O Data Management
  • 8 hours of online drop-ins for VFX shots
  • 40-hour 2D 4K Rec709 Color Correction on a calibrated Sony X300 monitor
  • 1 Final Credits build and application
  • 1 Final master color render
  • 1 2D Digital Cinema Package including DCDM and DCP
  • 1 ProRes QuickTime

Filmmakers must provide a full online turnover delivered to Picture Shop’s standard specs. Additional work beyond the grant package will be negotiated at standard rates. The grant package does not include overtime or weekend work.

The grant recipient will be chosen by Picture Shop and Film Independent.
