Social Justice Narrative Feature Grant

Funding for international narrative feature filmmakers in screenwriting, development, or post-production whose film explores social justice issues and benefits the Bay Area filmmaking community in a professional or economic capacity.

This grant supports independent narrative feature films that address social justice issues through plot, character, theme, or setting.

It is open to filmmakers internationally and is designed for projects in screenwriting, development, or post-production that also show a meaningful professional or economic connection to the Bay Area filmmaking community.

  • For feature-length fiction films only
  • Open to filmmakers in the U.S. and internationally
  • Supports screenwriting, development, and post-production
  • Project must explore social justice issues in a positive and meaningful way
  • Project budget must be $3,000,000 or under
  • Primary applicant must be a screenwriter, director, or producer
  • Screenwriting and development grants include Bay Area residency support
  • Short films and documentaries are not eligible
