iTunes accepts feature-length motion pictures or documentaries that were initially released either in cinemas or directly to video, as well as short films of cinematic or DVD quality.

The iTunes Store does not accept adult films, how-to videos, user-generated content and other video types that are not normally considered to be motion pictures or documentaries.

Films must be provided in the language(s) of the territory you are applying to distribute in, or they must be dubbed or subtitled in the language(s) of that territory.

Content Requirements:

  • 5 feature-length movies or documentaries that were released theatrically (or) 100 feature-length movies or documentaries that were either released theatrically or direct-to-video.
  • Digital distribution rights for all content you intend to sell on the iTunes Store.
  • All associated music and talent rights cleared for digital distribution.
  • All movies in a territory-appropriate language (or) dubbed or subtitled in a territory-appropriate language.
Submission Notes
A US Tax ID is required as part of the iTunes Connect sign-up and authentication process. Best to go through their list of approved aggregators and encoding houses for submission.
