Production Finance Market (PFM) is a two-day film financing event which takes place every October in association with the BFI London Film Festival. It helps to build new film financing relationships between producers and financiers, and is the only event of its kind in the UK.
PFM is open to producers with feature film projects aimed at the international theatrical market and a production budget of over €1m, and international financiers seeking new projects. Attendance is by application only.
About the market
PFM is an essential industry event for people trying to get their films made - from encouraging new business relationships to attaching international sales companies and securing various forms of investments in companies and film projects.
Coordinating more than 800 producer-to-financier pitch meetings and 300 financier-to-financier meetings, PFM is invaluable for producers and financiers alike.
More than 60 films and companies have benefited directly from PFM to date, in addition to the countless long-term connections that have been fostered through the event.
What to expect
Each market launches with an inspirational keynote speech delivered by an industry leader. Past speakers have included Ben Roberts, director of BFI Film Fund, Michael Barker, co-president of Sony Pictures Classics, Alison Thompson, managing director of Sunray Films, and Bertrand Faivre, producer and founder of The Bureau.
The two days of the market are filled with intense networking and pitching meetings between financiers and producers. Taking the form of speed dating, producers have 30 minutes to impress each financier before moving on to their next meeting.
This streamlined schedule enables producers to meet many more financiers than usually possible. Delegates may also attend expert panel sessions discussing new developments in film.
